Deca čitaju srpsku istoriju – III kolo (Children Read Serbian History, Series III – Set)

A children's book set about Serbian history, important personalities and national identity

With "Deca čitaju srpsku istoriju – III. Kolo", children gain vivid and age-appropriate access to important figures in Serbian history. The eight-part set forms the third and final part of the multi-award-winning book series "Deca čitaju srpsku istoriju" (Children read Serbian history) by author Slobodan Stanišić and the Serbian publisher Pčelica.

The III. Kolo includes eight books about personalities who shaped different epochs and crucial moments in Serbian history: Čučuk Stana, Hajduk Veljko, Starina Novak, Prokleta Jerina, Despot Đurađ, Stanoje Glavaš, Miloš Obrenović and Karađorđe. Their life stories are told in a child-friendly way and supplemented by expressive illustrations by Ozren Miždalo, Nikola Vitković, Jovan Ukropina, Ivan Šainović and Tihomir Čelanović.

The entire series "Deca čitaju srpsku istoriju" has received several awards. Among others, it received the prestigious award for the best children's book edition at the Belgrade Book Fair in 2014 and was also honored by the international jury of the III. Festival of Slavic Books in Minsk.

The III. Kolo itself was awarded the "Stuplje" prize for the preservation of Serbian tradition and Orthodox spirituality. Thus, the book series combines historical education with the transmission of culture, tradition, and an awareness of one's own heritage.

All eight books are written entirely in Serbian and Cyrillic script. This makes the set particularly suitable for families in the diaspora who want to introduce their children to Serbian history as well as the Serbian Cyrillic script and encourage its use in everyday life.

The complete set includes the following eight titles:

„Чучук Стана, девојка са сто мегдана“
„Хајдук Вељко, јунак вредан целе војске“
„Старина Новак, хајдук и војсковођа“
„Проклета Јерина зида град Смедерево“
„Деспот Ђурађ у граду са шест кула“
„Станоје Главаш, српски војвода – хајдучки краљ“
„Милош Обреновић, велики српски кнез“
„Карађорђе – вођа коме се дивио свет“

The books have a sturdy hardcover binding and are supplied together in a cardboard box. The set is particularly suitable for families who want to introduce their children to Serbian history, important historical figures, and their own cultural heritage in an understandable and exciting way.
