Narodni običaji – Serbian Customs & Traditions

Customs and traditions have accompanied the Serbian people for generations and are closely linked to family, community, faith, and the various stages of life. They tell of how our ancestors celebrated special days, marked important life events, and passed on their traditions to children and grandchildren.

The children's booklet "Народни обичаји" from the "Упознајмо српску традицију" series introduces young readers to the most significant Serbian folk customs in an understandable and vivid way. With simple texts and authentic illustrations, children learn more about important holidays throughout the year as well as special events in a person's life and the traditions associated with them.

Children discover how various customs originated, what significance they hold for families and communities, and why many of them are preserved to this day. The lovingly designed illustrations by Marina Veselinović bring the individual topics to life and make it easier for young readers to access Serbian culture.

The booklet is part of the Pčelica series "Upoznajmo srpsku tradiciju," which introduces children to various aspects of Serbian culture, history, and tradition. "Narodni običaji" is therefore particularly suitable for families who want to show their children which customs shaped our ancestors and why they are still an important part of our cultural heritage today.

Especially for Serbian families in the diaspora, the booklet offers a wonderful way to introduce children to their own heritage and pass on traditions to the next generation. At the same time, the text, written entirely in Serbian Cyrillic, supports reading and understanding the Serbian language.

With 32 pages and a format of 21.8 × 25 cm, the booklet is specially designed for younger school children aged approximately 7 to 10 years. The combination of simple texts and numerous illustrations makes "Narodni običaji" a child-friendly introduction to the diverse world of Serbian customs and traditions.
