Svet viđen očima Svetog Nikolaja Srpskog – Valentin Katasonov (The World Through the Eyes of Saint Nikolaj Srpski)

Svet viđen očima Svetog Nikolaja Srpskog – Valentin Katasonov (The World Through the Eyes of Saint Nikolaj Srpski)

Sveti Nikolaj Srpski (Velimirović, 1880–1956), Bishop of Žiča and Ohrid, is regarded as the greatest Serb after Sveti Sava. In his sermons, letters and writings he wrote not only about the faith, but just as clearly about Europe, society, money and the path of nations. This book places exactly this view of the saint on the world at its centre.

The author, Valentin Katasonov (born 1950), is a well-known Russian economist: professor at the Department of International Finance at MGIMO in Moscow, adviser to the United Nations from 1991 to 1993, and member of the Advisory Council of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from 1993 to 1996. In numerous works he has written about money, capitalism and the Orthodox understanding of society and economy. Here he reads the works of Sveti Nikolaj with an economist's eye and from an Orthodox perspective – and shows how relevant the saint's words are for our time. The Serbian translation from Russian was published in 2024 by the Belgrade publisher Informatika, with notes and references, in a print run of only 1,000 copies.

A book for everyone who wants not only to venerate Sveti Nikolaj, but to understand how he saw the world – for your own library or as a gift for readers interested in faith, history and society.
