Sveti Georgije – Biblioteka Slava (Life and Slava of Saint Georgije)

Sveti Georgije – Biblioteka Slava (Life and Slava of Saint Georgije)

Sveti velikomučenik Georgije Pobedonosac, the Great Martyr and Victory-Bearer, was an officer in the Roman army who chose martyrdom rather than deny his faith in the Lord Isus Hristos († 303). The Serbian people celebrate him as Sveti Đorđe twice a year: on Đurđevdan, 6 May, and on Đurđic, 16 November – both days are among the most common Krsne slave.

This volume of the Slava series by Deacon Nenad Ilić and Anastasija Ilić tells the Žitije (life) and the Slava of the Holy Great Martyr Georgije and explains how Đurđevdan and Đurđic are celebrated as a Slava. Numerous illustrations accompany the text in Serbian (Cyrillic script). This second edition from the Belgrade publisher Škola plus is a large-format hardcover, 21 × 27 cm.

A book for every home that celebrates Sveti Đorđe as its Slava – for reading aloud to children, for your own library, or as a gift for hosts and kumovi on Đurđevdan and Đurđic.
