Sveti Luka – Biblioteka Slava (Life and Slava of the Holy Apostle Luka)

Sveti Luka – Biblioteka Slava (Life and Slava of the Holy Apostle Luka)

Sveti apostol i jevanđelist Luka wrote the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. He was a physician and a companion of the Apostle Pavle, and according to the tradition of the Church he was the first to paint an icon of the Presveta Bogorodica – which is why he is honoured as the patron of icon painters and physicians. Lukindan on 31 October is celebrated as the Krsna slava of many Serbian families.

This volume of the Slava series by Deacon Nenad Ilić and Anastasija Ilić tells the Žitije (life) and the Slava of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luka and explains how Lukindan is celebrated as a Slava. The illustrations by Deacon Nenad Ilić accompany the text in Serbian (Cyrillic script). The book was published by Teatar ZA of Belgrade in cooperation with the Monastery of Đurđevi Stupovi in Ras, as a large-format hardcover, 21 × 27 cm.

A book for every home that celebrates Sveti Luka as its Slava – for reading aloud to children, for your own library, or as a gift for hosts and kumovi on Lukindan.
