Saint John

Sveti Jovan Krstitelj (Saint John the Baptist) is the forerunner and baptizer of Christ and is considered the greatest among the prophets. In the Serbian Orthodox Church, he is deeply revered as a caller to repentance and a powerful intercessor.

Jovanjdan, his feast day on January 20th, follows immediately after Božić and Bogojavljenje and is one of the most widely observed Slavas among the Serbian people. Countless families honor their patron saint on this day and pass this tradition on from generation to generation.
